Sunlight transforms the station's hall throughout the day thanks to this installation, which draws inspiration from the stained-glass windows of Saint-Joseph Church designed by Marguerite Huré, a master glassmaker.
In her artistic approach, the artist explores the concepts of the original and the copy. She thus echoes the stained-glass windows of Saint-Joseph’s Church by reinterpreting their chromatic effects on the station’s windows, creating a dialogue between two iconic architectural landmarks of Le Havre.
This installation echoes a sculpture by the same artist installed nearby, at the entrance to the Allée Aimé Césaire. Both works feature characteristic elements of this building and extend its memory and symbolism into the urban space.
Entitled Coupes, these works are inspired by the language of cinema and photography. They present fragments of the Le Havre landscape, isolated from their original context, which take on a life of their own and break free from their original setting.
