Temporary Work of Art Bassin du commerce An installation at the crossroads between matter, space and language

Which support could be more poetic than a thin film of water to write words on?

In these words, can you see the sky? Reality, constantly changing. The dollars, rainfalls, and blows flow. In these words, can you see the die-cut matter and, then, the liquid which alone influences us, beyond us, always? This is an attempt to combine continuous flows and faceted mirrors. Air and water intertwine. On this thin film of water, something escapes, flies away, and shines: it is a poem.

The magic of cloud processions confronted to letters, looking at us, and which we look at while holding on to water as in a dream of depths. Letting the bickering of time dive to hear the sound of tides. Liquids. Liquids only. Liquid consonants. Diction is a stream, a stream which passes through our lips. Flow of time, movements of the real. Open terms, open ideas. So many possibilities drifting, so many rivers to travel up. Burning salt and roaring currents. Drifting is endless and abstractions become mirages. Above the surface of water, the strength of a sentence that calls for others: a magic formula, mathematical formula, in its technical form, forming an improbable mixture of sensations and predictions.

Liquid, like an absolute and ultimate sea, swallowed by all possibilities, by all presuppositions. Real, like the erratic exploration of this hazy writing factory. I am talking about the lack of contours. Water travels, does not wait for us, never waited for us. Sometimes, in the form of a speculative bubble, other times in the form of groundwater, oasis, or Norman rain. Molecules move forward. Molecules are both free and branded with the hot iron of our vital needs. In the swell, at sea, we hang on to our lifeline. Among the crowd, in town, we hang on to our beliefs. No more certainties than land on the horizon. No more stability than the stock price.

Alice Baude moved to Le Havre in 2017 – the year the city celebrated the 500th anniversary of its foundation – to pursue her Master's Degree in Literary Creation at the University of Le Havre and ESADHaR. Very fond of literature, Alice Baude has already had several travel diaries and collections of poems published, including Miniature aux portes éphémères* (published by Phloème).

Today, she is involved in research studies on the interactions between art and environment. Alice Baude's creation is at the crossroads between matter, space, and language.
