Temporary work of art
Parcours bleuOriginally, also known as “The Pentateuch project”, precisely originated as a little drawing by Fabien Mérelle, with the same title. In 2010, Mérelle was confronted with the double-burden of tradition and History : he’s a Catholic and wanted to marry his Jewish fiancée. They had the first five books of the Bible in common (The Pentateuch), but to be true to the Old Testament, one book was missing, condemning their alliance and casting a shadow over their future: «The elephant epitomized the burden I was then carrying on my shoulders and I soon realized that my initial drawing simply had to evolve into a sculpture. This generic man is like each of us: at one point in his life, he must bear the weight of situations that seem impossible to overcome. Bringing this sculpture to life was like finding a way to shatter the impossible. I enjoy the fact that everyone makes up a different story when they look at it.» Exhibited for the first time in Hong Kong, this gigantic piece (close to 6 meter high) arrived by sea in Le Havre and looks out towards the city while waiting to turn and face To The End of the World.
